The album below contains photos that have miraculously made it to the National Geographic’s Daily Dozen’s page. The Daily Dozen is an international public event where editors select and publish 12 out of 3000 submissions on a daily basis. Photo 1: Intercultural Communication (Daily Dozen, Apr 15, 2013)

This is a photograph showing communication by means of hand gestures between a minor and an adult or an Asian and a westerner. I was in a photocopying room when I noticed the way an Englishman was talking to an Asian out at the office. Looking at the resources around me, I thought to myself how better to represent this communication than 2 paper clips sitting on a stack of paper. The cultural imbalance can be seen by differences in physique, specifically height and structure of the clips, taking into account cultural norms, biasness and stereotypes of a specific cultural group.

Photo 2: Watchful Eyes of the Night (Daily Dozen, Apr 25, 2013)

“I present to you two spoons placed on a Reversi game board. Inverted tortoise shells or simply the eyes of an all too familiar reptile? There are no boundaries to human imagination.”

Photo 3: Art of China (Daily Dozen, Apr 06, 2011)

An elderly man writing Chinese characters on the icy streets of Beijing using the purity of water.

Photo 4: People’s Park Complex, Chinatown (Daily Dozen, Jul 31, 2017)

Studio apartments built on top of the People’s Park Complex in Chinatown, Singapore.
